The New Victoria Theatre in Woking is one of the South East’s leading live entertainment venues, welcoming thousands of guests annually for West End shows, concerts, and comedy. As part of a significant refurbishment programme, the theatre sought to enhance the audience experience with improved comfort, accessibility, and modern seating design.
The refurbishment focused on rejuvenating the main auditorium and public areas to meet the expectations of today’s theatregoers, while preserving the theatre’s high-capacity layout and welcoming atmosphere. Key improvements included:
Installation of brand-new auditorium seating
Enhancements to the theatre’s accessibility and sightlines
Updated finishes and fixtures to create a fresh, contemporary look
Minimising disruption to the theatre’s programming during the upgrade
This renovation project aimed to elevate the overall visitor experience while ensuring the venue remained fit for purpose for future generations.
Race Furniture was selected to deliver new auditorium seating tailored to the unique requirements of a busy commercial theatre. Our involvement included:
Designing and manufacturing bespoke seats for the auditorium
Improving comfort with ergonomic designs and generous legroom
Selecting hardwearing, easy-to-maintain materials suitable for high-traffic usage
Coordinating installation around the theatre’s live performance schedule
Our design approach balanced durability with elegance, ensuring the seats enhanced both the look and functionality of the theatre.
The revitalised New Victoria Theatre reopened to audiences with a refreshed interior and a vastly improved seating experience. With increased comfort, better views, and upgraded finishes, the theatre is now better equipped to host a wide range of performances and continue delighting audiences from across the region.
