Initially to begin the process, you will let us know the unit you would like servicing and we will provide you a quote. Your service will include a full inspection of your unit and we will also carry out any minor adjustments (such as re-fitting bolts to lower / lift columns) during the visit. Afterwards we will provide a detailed checklist for each unit highlighting any potential issues.
The requirements for servicing retractable seating units primarily revolve around ensuring the safety and functionality of the seating system, as well as adhering to relevant building and safety codes.
A retractable unit has many areas to consider when it comes to safe running and efficiency. A retractable unit is likely to have to safely support hundreds of people at any one time, is a moving piece of equipment, and, when powered, is a piece of machinery. In Britain and Europe, retractable systems must adhere to the BS EN 13200 standard, and has requirements around safety, load handling, layout, labelling and documentation. They also must be covered by the Provision and Use of Work Equipment (PUWER) regulations, as they are pieces of equipment that have to be operated by a person as part of their work. You must be able to show that the equipment is in sound working order and that they have been regularly inspected by qualified professionals with records kept of these inspections. You may also find that your unit will also need to meet Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER).
We highly recommend an annual service of your retractable unit to ensure its safe and efficient running. We offer annual services and will be in touch when our records show you are due a service.
As mentioned above, you will receive a full detailed checklist of everything we have checked in the service, this will also highlight any areas of concern. You will also be supplied with a Health & Safety Certificate of Completion which will be your record of inspection and certify that your retractable unit is structurally sound. This certificate will provide details of the individual who carried out the service and the date of inspection.
